Electric Machine Design

Here at Advanced MotorTech we pride ourselves in building quality, high value motors, generators, alternators and magnetic components (generically: 'electric machines') suitable for its application. We design, or help you design, state-of-the-art electric machines that are built to operate at top performance, while meeting or exceeding specified requirements. Every aspect of the electric machine is understood and designed to rigorous expectations by our experienced engineering team.

Using our many years of experience in the field of electric machines and magnetic design, Advanced MotorTech is able to understand specifications for back-of-envelope sizing and scaling, create analytic models, run FEA simulations, as well as develop fully functional prototypes. Building lasting relationships with our clients is very important for us, and we ensure delivery of high value services that exceed expectations.

Analytic Analysis

Analytic calculations involve the application of scientific theory, fundamental physics and engineering practice to understand the properties and state of the magnetic-electrical-mechanical-thermal system. Efficient engineering analysis can be modular and proceeds by separating the engineering design into the functional mechanisms of the system and analyzing each component in isolation. Then we apply judgement and experience to re-combine the dynamic behavior of the sub-systems into a practical, integrated system that performs as predicted.

Finite Element Analysis

Finite element analysis is a numerical technique for finding approximate solutions to an energy functional based on partial differential equations (PDE) of a discretized system. We use 2D FEA for approximate first level analysis, but we always use time transient 3D FEA, very often calculating hundreds of solutions of models with over 1 million elements, to get the exact answers needed for today's demanding requirements.

Co-Simulation

Co-simulation & Optimization consists of linking and combining solutions of computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools like FEA, CAD, circuit simulator, thermal analysis, structural analysis, acoustic analysis, hardware-in-the-loop development, etc. The input data can be varied to find a set of combined features that are the right solution for the requirements. Generally, there is not a single best solution, but many very good and realistic solutions.
